The revenues of the 101st Dubai Plate Number public auction organized by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), reached a staggering AED 23,475,000 this week.

The favorite Dubai plate number of the day was (12 W). The latter was sold for AED 4 million! This was followed by the plate number (20 Z) which was successfully auctioned at AED 2,760,000.

Why are these number plates sold for such a significant amount of money? Like most countries, some license plates come with prestige and status. In Dubai, the fewer numbers and letters, the ‘wealthier’ the owner of the vehicle or the higher rank their family has.
